CELEBRATING 50 YEARS SERVING THE HURLEY COMMUNITY
Three BIG Events in 2024!
For 50 years, the all-volunteer Hurley Heritage Society has preserved, protected, educated and celebrated the uniqueness of the Town of Hurley. In that time we acquired the Colonel Jonathan Elmendorf House, located at 52 Main Street, and made it into a museum dedicated to Hurley, always free and open to the public. We commemorate all of our town’s heritage, including the contributions of indigenous peoples, early Dutch and British settlers, and the many other peoples who have made our community special.
To celebrate our 50th, we bring back two community favorites - the Hurley Rooster Auction and Hurley Heritage Day, and introduce one new one - a Gala of Dinner and Theater. All are invited to join us for these fun events, with details below. We also wish to thank our sponsors, supporters, members and volunteers - without their support our all-volunteer organization would not be possible. THANK YOU! Learn how to become a HHS 50th Anniversary sponsor.
Gala Evening of Dinner Theater
December 6, 2024
We are excited to kickoff the evening by recognizing the contributions that Bruce and Gail Whistance have made to the HHS and the community. The theatre portion will consist of three historical vignettes performed by professional actors and singers between courses of a gourmet meal at The Chateau, bringing to life scenes from Hurley between the 17th and 20th centuries. Delight in the festive choral music, and join in the holiday sing-along at the end of the evening.

Hurley Rooster Auction
Friday, June 7th, 6pm
Local artists beautifully painted 23 hand-crafted metal roosters, the iconic symbol of Hurley. These metal roosters, made by Hurley resident Wayne Waligurski of Patentee Manor, were on display and available for bid at a live auction that included food and refreshments compliments of Santa Fe Uptown, Stone Soup, and Sam's Club. Our event was well attended and warmly received. We thank Cross Point Fellowship and the community that showed such tremendous support.
